Somaliland Rejects Al Arabiya Report, Denies Presence of Forces in Awdal.
HARGEISA, Republic of Somaliland (Horn post) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Somaliland has categorically rejected what it described as false and misleading reports circulated by Al Arabiya, alleging the presence of foreign or unauthorized forces in the Awdal Region.
In an official statement issued on Monday, the Ministry affirmed that Awdal Region remains fully and unequivocally under the sovereign authority of the Republic of Somaliland.
It stressed that no armed forces are present in the region other than the constitutionally mandated security forces of Somaliland.
“The reports in question are entirely unfounded and do not reflect the realities on the ground,” the Ministry said, adding that such claims risk misinforming the public and undermining regional stability.
The Ministry further called on Al Arabiya and other international media outlets to issue immediate corrections and to adhere strictly to professional journalistic standards, including verification of facts from credible and official sources.
Somaliland authorities reiterated their commitment to peace, stability, and the rule of law across all regions of the country and emphasized that misinformation will not alter Somaliland’s control over its territory or its responsibility for national security.
