Borama, January 5, 2026 (Horn Post) – Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, visited Borama on an official working trip, meeting with prominent traditional leaders of the western regions of Somaliland.
During the visit, the Vice President held discussions with Ugas Abdirashid Ugas Roble Ugas Dodi, the General Sultan of the Gadabursi clans, receiving updates on security, social, and development matters affecting the region.
Vice President Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, the Director General of Civil Aviation and Airport Development, and the Governor of Awdal Region.
Ugaas Abdirashid expressed gratitude for the Vice President’s visit and prayed for divine guidance to support his leadership. In turn, Vice President Mohamed Ali thanked the Ugaas for his continued support and counsel.
On the second day of his trip, the Vice President also visited Sheekhul Balad Sheikh Abdillahi Sheikh Ali Jawhar, the city’s chief religious’ leader, who welcomed him warmly and expressed appreciation for the engagement.
Furthermore, Vice President Mohamed Ali, alongside the Governor of Awdal, visited Sultan Abshir Mohamed Doale, a senior traditional leader of Awdal, who has recently faced health challenges. The Vice President prayed for his full recovery and offered support during his convalescence.
The visits highlight the Somaliland government’s commitment to strengthening ties with traditional and religious leaders, promoting peace, development, and community engagement across the western regions of the country.
