Hargeisa (Horn Post) – An official press statement issued by the Presidential Palace has detailed the key issues discussed during the 48th session of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland, which was held today at the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa.

The meeting was chaired by President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro) and attended by Vice President Mohamed Ali Aw Cabdi.

The Cabinet deliberated on national security, economic performance, Somaliland’s recognition efforts, public celebrations across the regions, health services, and youth and sports development.

National Security Situation:

The Minister of Interior and National Security, Abdalle Mohamed Arab, briefed the Cabinet on the country’s security situation, confirming that overall security across Somaliland remains stable. He noted that recent nationwide celebrations marking Somaliland’s recognition concluded peacefully in all regions, with no security incidents reported.

Revenue and Economic Performance:

The Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Abdillahi Hassan Aden, presented a comprehensive report on national revenue and economic performance. He stated that 2025 has been a year of tangible progress for the ministry, marked by measurable improvements in fiscal management and economic development.

Foreign Affairs and Recognition Efforts:

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdirahman Dahir Aden Bakaal, updated the Cabinet on the progress of Somaliland’s recognition efforts. He highlighted the smooth advancement of diplomatic engagements and outlined newly prepared protocols for receiving international delegations and global media organizations expected to visit Somaliland.

President’s Consultation with Religious Leaders:

The Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Sheikh Abdullahi Bashe Dahir Jama, informed the Cabinet that the President recently held an important meeting with Somaliland’s religious scholars. Discussions focused on issues related to the recognition Somaliland has received from the State of Israel, national unity, and inclusive consultation. The President reassured the scholars of the government’s commitment to safeguarding Islamic values while protecting Somaliland’s political interests in its engagement with the international community.

Nationwide Recognition Celebrations:

Ministers representing all regions of the country delivered detailed reports on public celebrations held in connection with Somaliland’s recognition. Officials from Maroodi-Jeex, Awdal, Sanaag, Sool, Saaxil, Togdheer, and Gabiley confirmed that the events were conducted peacefully and joyfully, demonstrating strong national unity and cohesion. The ministers noted that the celebrations conveyed a clear message of solidarity and resolve to Somaliland’s adversaries.

National Health Situation:

The Deputy Minister of Health Development, acting Minister of Health, Samsam Mohamed Salah-Yacniile, briefed the Cabinet on the overall health situation in the country. She emphasized the need for a national strategy to address healthcare gaps in border regions and announced that the ministry will provide free medical services in Dacar-Budhuq district, benefiting more than 300 residents.

Youth and Sports Development:

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed-Yasin Mohamed Farah, reported that the Somaliland Club Champions League will officially kick off in the coastal city of Berbera. The tournament will bring together more than 1,200 young participants and will also serve as a platform for public awareness related to Somaliland’s new historic phase.

The Cabinet session concluded with reaffirmations of national unity, stability, and continued efforts to advance Somaliland’s political, economic, and social priorities.
