Hargeisa – (Hornpost) The Director General of the Ministry of Mines and Energy of the Republic of Somaliland, Shucayb Osman Burmadow, has officially opened the Somaliland Minerals Expo 2025, describing it as a landmark event aimed at positioning Somaliland as an emerging destination for responsible mining and energy investment.
Delivering the opening remarks, Shucayb Osman welcomed President of the Republic of Somaliland, Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, senior cabinet ministers, members of parliament, political party leaders, diplomats, investors, and international delegates, thanking them for attending what he termed the first minerals expo of its kind in Somaliland.
According to the Director General, the Somaliland Minerals Expo 2025 is designed to achieve several strategic objectives said in his speech “Your Excellency, this expo is intended to achieve several key objectives, including to provide a platform for showcasing and profiling and marketing Somalia minerals potential and prospectives for local investors and international as well as to facilitate and interact and engage dialogue between the key government officials across ministers which responsible for the policies and regulatory factions to provide opportunity for networking for structuring investment deals in the mining sector. During this EBO numbers of prospective partnership agreements will be signed and MOUS which we request and receive so far”
The Director General of the Ministry of Mines and Energy of the Republic of Somaliland, Shucayb Osman Burmadow, noted that the event creates opportunities for networking and for structuring concrete investment deals, adding that several partnership agreements and memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed during the expo.
The DG Shucayb highlighted the strong international participation in the event, stating “The delegation participating in this expo physically and virtual including from USA, UK, Switzerland, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, UAE, Zambia, Sudan, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Jamaica, Afghanistan, Iraq and Morocco. Your excellency among the partners is our investors, industrial players, government officials, policy makers, top media personalities, fine techs expert, venture capitals as well as innovators and tech companies”
The Director General further explained that the presence of prominent scientists from Europe associated with global innovation and patent development reflecting the expo’s emphasis on technology-driven and sustainable resource development.
In his closing remarks, The Director General of the Ministry of Mines and Energy of the Republic of Somaliland, Shucayb Osman Burmadow, thanked all participants for their confidence in Somaliland, stating that their presence reflects growing international trust in the country’s stability, governance, and investment climate. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating a transparent, investor-friendly regulatory environment that supports sustainable development of Somaliland’s mineral and energy resources.
