Nairobi (Hornpost) Kenya’s Minister of Health, Aden Bare Duale, has responded to recent disparaging comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump about Somalis, calling the American leader “a difficult man who rarely thinks before he speaks,” while urging Somali leaders to refocus on national unity.
Duale said he agrees with Trump on some points but strongly disagrees on others, noting that even Trump’s own cabinet struggles to manage his rhetoric.
“Trump and Somalis have had their exchanges—you’ve all heard it. There are things I agree with and things I reject. He is a difficult man who doesn’t weigh his words, and even his ministers can hardly control him,” Duale remarked.
The Kenyan minister emphasized that Somalia remains a naturally wealthy nation blessed with good people, strong faith, rich marine resources, and a favorable climate. However, he said internal political divisions continue to undermine the country’s stability.
“Somalia is a rich country; nothing is missing. But if you don’t fix your own house, others will always see you as disorganized,” he said. Duale urged Somali leaders to reconcile, avoid shifting loyalties between foreign powers, and work together to elevate the nation.
He concluded by appealing for unity and stronger leadership to help Somalia overcome security challenges and unlock its full potential.
Aden Bare Duale’s statement is directly directed at Somali President Hassan Sheikh, who does not give importance to resolving political conflicts within the country.
Instead, he prefers to attend conferences and travel the world while he is not in control of the Puntland and Jubaland administrations, which are strategic administrations with ports.
