Doha, (Hornpost) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, led a delegation to Doha for the inaugural meeting of the Somalia–Qatar Joint Committee, a platform established to strengthen the longstanding friendship and strategic cooperation between the two nations.

During the session, Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali and Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, signed four major cooperation agreements covering culture, customs, youth, and agriculture—marking a significant step forward in enhancing bilateral ties.
- Culture and Heritage Agreement:
The agreement promotes collaboration between both countries’ ministries of education and culture in areas such as:
Strengthening cooperation between libraries and archival institutions
Organizing cultural festivals and artistic exhibitions
Promoting cultural knowledge exchange
Joint participation in international book fairs
- Customs Cooperation Agreement:
Signed under Somalia’s Ministry of Finance, the agreement aims to:
Improve implementation of customs laws.
Combat customs violations and smuggling.
Ensure accurate tax and fee assessments.
Protect customs procedures in alignment with regional and international standards
- Youth Cooperation Agreement:
Led by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the agreement enhances:
Exchange of youth organization participants
Participation in conferences, seminars, and youth camps
Training programs on project management and leadership skills
- Agriculture Cooperation Agreement
The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation will collaborate with Qatar on:
Increasing agricultural and food production.
