Erigavo, (Hornpost)  – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), today officially closed the Peace Conference of the Communities of Sanag Region, which had been taking place in Erigavo over the past weeks and concluded with a historic national reconciliation and mutual understanding among the local communities.

In his closing remarks, President Cirro delivered a message filled with guidance, prayers, and national optimism, praising the people of Sanag for their patience, unity, and dedication to peace. He urged them to continue strengthening solidarity and mutual respect, emphasizing that peace remains the cornerstone of Somaliland’s stability and existence.

The President also commended the elders, traditional leaders, and community representatives who played key roles in organizing and sustaining the peace talks, reiterating that his government — the Administration of Unity and Progress — is fully committed to maintaining peace, cohesion, and development in Erigavo and the wider Sanag region.

“Of the ten months I’ve held office, today is the happiest day for me, the peace platform remains open, and I thank the people of Sanag for their cooperation. To the people of Las Anod, I say: the international recognition of Somaliland is getting closer — don’t be left behind,” said President Cirro.

The First Deputy Speaker of the Somaliland House of Representatives, Mr. Gire, also addressed the gathering, stating that “the beauty and stability of the Sanag region lie in the hands of its own people,” and called for continued unity and reconciliation.

Meanwhile, Chief Ugas Abdirashid Ugas Roble Ugas Doodi, the Supreme Traditional Leader of the Salal and Awdal regions, declared that “the recognition of Somaliland rests in the hands of its citizens,” and revealed that he will accompany President Cirro on his upcoming diplomatic trip to the United States.

Suldan Saed Suldan Abdisalam, the Grand Sultan of the Warsangali community, appealed for all those still away to “return peacefully and join the path of reconciliation,” emphasizing the collective desire for peace and national cohesion.

The peace conference in Erigavo concluded in an atmosphere of brotherhood, unity, and optimism, marking another example of Somaliland’s homegrown model of resolving internal disputes through dialogue, compromise, and mutual understanding.
