Washington D.C. (Hornpost) Mubarik Ismael Tani, former Chief of Staff in the Office of the President of the Republic of Somaliland, has held an important dinner meeting in Washington D.C. with Mr. Piero A. Tozzi, Director of the Office of the U.S. Congressional-Executive Commission on China.
In his statement, Mr. Tani praised Mr. Tozzi as “a great friend of the Republic of Somaliland”, highlighting his tireless and selfless efforts to strengthen relations between Somaliland and the United States.
“Mr. Piero Tozzi has made significant contributions to advancing Somaliland’s interests in Washington. He led the first-ever U.S. Congressional Delegation to visit the Republic of Somaliland, which included senior Congressional staff and policy experts. Upon their return, they submitted a comprehensive report to Congress that greatly enhanced Somaliland’s visibility and engagement in U.S. policy circles,” Mr. Tani noted.
He further stated that Mr. Tozzi has visited Hargeisa several times since that historic mission and currently serves as Director of one of the most influential commissions in the U.S. Congress — chaired by Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ), a long-time supporter and advocate of Somaliland.
“We deeply appreciate Mr. Tozzi’s continued friendship and dedication to our nation’s cause,” Mr. Tani added, concluding with a Somali proverb:
‘A debt of gratitude is never forgotten; it is repaid with loyalty and sincerity.’ — Haji Ahmed Gabay-xaddi
