Gaza, October 5, 2025 (hornpost.com/) – Eli Sharabi, a former hostage who spent 491 days in Hamas captivity, has called on U.S. President Donald Trump to “finish the job” by ensuring the release of all remaining hostages still held in Gaza.
Sharabi, who was freed earlier this year, made the appeal during his first English-language interview, broadcast by the BBC on Saturday. He revealed that he learned of the deaths of his wife and two daughters, who were killed during the October 7 attacks, only after being released.
Speaking emotionally, Sharabi said it was essential to end the ongoing war to allow the safe return of the remaining captives. He recounted the harsh conditions he endured while in Hamas custody — including torture, starvation, and psychological abuse — and described the devastating moment he realized his family was gone.
“The war has taken enough lives,” he said. “The only way forward is to bring everyone home.”
