Burao (Hornpost) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), together with a large delegation on the second day of his official working tour in Burao, today inaugurated the Government Service Decentralization Initiative in the city. This new initiative will provide essential public services to the Eastern Regions of the country.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by national, regional, and district officials, heads of government institutions, and community leaders from Burao.

The purpose of this new initiative is to bring vital government services closer to citizens across all regions, ensuring easier access without the need to travel to the capital, Hargeisa.

The decentralized services launched in Burao include:

  1. Passports
  2. Birth Certificates
  3. Driver’s Licenses
  4. Business Licenses
  5. Work Permits
  6. Official Certificates from the Ministry of Education

The President described this decentralization initiative as a strategic step towards strengthening administrative efficiency, reducing the time and costs citizens face in accessing public services, and ensuring nationwide participation in the state system.

Finally, President Cirro urged all agencies responsible for implementing this initiative to carry out their duties with professionalism and to serve the public diligently.

The people of Burao warmly welcomed this step and expressed their gratitude to the President, noting that it eliminates the long-standing need for residents of Eastern Somaliland to travel to the capital for essential government services, which they can now access directly in Burao, the regional capital of Togdheer.
