Vice President of Republic of Somaliland Attends 30th Anniversary of the Coast Guard

Hargeisa (Hornpost) – The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland and Acting President, H.E. Mohamed Ali Aw Cabdi, today attended the ceremony marking the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of the Somaliland Coast Guard.

The commemoration, held at the Coast Guard Headquarters, was attended by senior commanders of the national armed forces as well as representatives from Somaliland’s partner countries.

In his keynote address, the Vice President congratulated all members of the Coast Guard and their families, stating:

“It is a great honor for me to join you today in celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the founding of the Somaliland Coast Guard. On this historic occasion, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to the commanders, deputy commanders, officers, non-commissioned officers, rank and file, as well as their spouses and children. I pray that Allah grants your health, strength, and continued success.”

Vice President Aw Cabdi also underlined the importance of Somaliland’s marine resources, urging citizens to make full use of the country’s rich coastal and marine potential:

“Marine resources are of immense value globally. As pastoralism continues to decline, we must focus on harnessing the opportunities provided by fishing and other marine resources.

He further reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening and modernizing the Coast Guard:

“As a government, we are firmly committed to enhancing the capacity and professionalism of the Somaliland Coast Guard so that its capabilities reach international standards.”
