Trump’s Call for Ceasefire
Washington (Hornpost) U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Israel to immediately stop its bombardment of Gaza after Hamas announced it had accepted parts of his U.S.-brokered peace plan. Despite the appeal, multiple explosions were still heard in Gaza early Saturday morning.
Israel’s Position:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is ready to implement the “first phase” of Trump’s proposal, which centers on the release of hostages. The Israeli military confirmed preparations are underway to act on the plan following Hamas’ shift.
Hamas’ Response:
Hamas stated it has accepted several key points of the 20-point peace framework, including the release of all Israeli hostages — alive and dead — and the handover of Gaza’s administration to an independent Palestinian body backed by Arab and Islamic nations.
However, the group did not commit to disarmament or fully stepping aside from governance, leaving those points open for further negotiation.

World leaders welcomed Hamas’ move as a step toward ending the war:
UN Secretary-General António Guterres urged all sides to seize this opportunity.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called it “a constructive and crucial step.”
European leaders including Emmanuel Macron, Friedrich Merz, Giorgia Meloni, and Keir Starmer hailed it as the best chance for peace in years.
Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney encouraged swift implementation.
Qatar praised Trump’s call for an immediate ceasefire.
