Somaliland, World Bank Conclude Capacity-Building Training on Financial Governance and Project Implementation.

Somaliland, World Bank Wrap Up Governance and Project Management Training in Nairobi

Nairobi, (Horn post) A joint capacity-building training program organized by Somaliland’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and the World Bank has concluded in Nairobi, marking a key step in strengthening public financial management and project implementation capacity.

The training, conducted in two phases, began in Hargeisa and concluded in Nairobi. It brought together senior government officials, including Directors General from various ministries and agencies, project coordinators, and technical staff involved in World Bank-funded development programs.

According to officials, the first phase of the training focused on enhancing financial transparency, strengthening anti-corruption measures, and improving safeguards within public financial systems. The second phase concentrated on building technical capacity for project execution, including financial management, procurement processes, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and environmental and social safeguards.

Participants also received training on improving stakeholder engagement to ensure more effective coordination and delivery of development projects.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the Somaliland government, in partnership with the World Bank, to enhance institutional capacity, improve accountability, and increase the efficiency and impact of development programs across the country.

Officials said the program is expected to contribute to stronger governance frameworks and better implementation outcomes for externally funded projects in Somaliland.
