ERIGAVO – (Hornpost) The State Minister of Interior and Security of the Republic of Somaliland, Hon. Abdirashid Mohamed Ahmed (Magalo), on Thursday officially presided over the handover of office between the outgoing Governor of Sanag Region, Hon. Ahmed Abdi Muse, and the newly appointed Governor, Hon. Mahmoud Rage Ibrahim.
The well-organized handover ceremony took place in Sanag Region and was attended by senior government officials, security commanders, regional and district administrators, traditional elders, intellectuals, youth representatives, and other distinguished guests.
Speaking at the event, State Minister Abdirashid Mohamed Ahmed described the handover as a clear demonstration of Somaliland’s system of governance, rule of law, accountability, and institutional continuity.
He commended the outgoing governor for his dedication, competence, and sense of responsibility during his tenure, noting his significant role in strengthening security, administration, and community cooperation across the region.
The state minister also advised the newly appointed governor to build upon ongoing development initiatives, enhance coordination with security institutions, and work closely with all segments of the community to ensure sustainable peace, development, and unity in Sanag Region.
In his remarks, the new Governor of Sanag, Hon. Mahmoud Rage Ibrahim, pledged to carry out his duties with integrity, transparency, and responsibility. He emphasized that his administration would prioritize public interest, security enhancement, and the improvement of basic social services throughout the region.
The ceremony concluded with the formal exchange of official documents, duly signed by both the outgoing and incoming governors, marking a smooth and orderly transition of leadership in Sanag Region.
The newly appointed Governor of Sanag Region, Hon. Mahmoud Rage Ibrahim, is a seasoned academic and public servant who pursued his higher education in Denmark and the United Kingdom. He brings with him extensive experience in public administration, having previously held several senior national positions, including Director of the National Printing Press, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Director General of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Somaliland.
President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro) becomes the third Somaliland president to appoint Hon. Mahmoud Raage Ibrahim to a national leadership position, underscoring the continued confidence placed in his expertise, professionalism, and public service record.
