Somaliland Showcases Vast Mineral Wealth at Inaugural First-Ever International Mining Expo 2025 +Pictrues

 

Hargeisa – (Hornpost) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), on Tuesday officially inaugurated the Somaliland Minerals Expo 2025 at the Mansoor Hotel in Hargeisa, marking the first event of its kind to be held in the country.

The two-day international exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals in partnership with private companies and key stakeholders in the extractive sector, aims to showcase Somaliland’s vast and diverse mineral resources to both global investors and local participants in a professional and knowledge-driven setting.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, President Cirro commended the leadership and staff of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, as well as international partners, companies, and individuals who contributed to the successful organization of the expo.

President emphasized that Somaliland is a credible and reliable destination for investment, cooperation, partnerships, financing, and international commercial engagement.

The President underlined that Somaliland has in place comprehensive legal frameworks, policies, procedures, and governance systems designed to facilitate and protect investors, enabling them to operate with clarity, security, and confidence.

President Cirro noted that the economic agenda of the Unity and Action Government prioritizes the responsible, transparent, and sustainable development of the country’s natural resources. He stressed that resource development will be pursued in a manner that promotes long-term stability, inclusive growth, and shared prosperity, while safeguarding environmental protection and ensuring lasting social and economic sustainability.

The event also featured keynote remarks from senior officials, including the Director General of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Dr. Shucayb Boqor Osman-Buurmadow; the Minister of Investment, Saed Mohamed Burale; the Chairman of the Waddani Party, Hirsi Ali Haji Hassan; and the Minister of Energy and Minerals, Ahmed Jama Barre.

International experts attending in person and via virtual platforms also delivered technical presentations and insights on global trends in the mining and minerals sector.

President Cirro further highlighted that Somaliland’s enduring peace, democratic governance, internal and border security, and independent judicial system meet international standards, providing global investors with a high level of assurance.

Concluding his address, the President reaffirmed Somaliland’s readiness to engage fairly and transparently with international partners in the joint development of its natural resources, reiterating that the country remains open for sustainable and mutually beneficial investment.

Companies operating in Somaliland’s mining sector, along with a large number of foreign delegates representing both local and international firms, participated in the Somaliland Minerals and Energy Exhibition.
