HARGEISA (Horn post) The Spokesperson of the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Hossein Adan Igge (Dayr), has explained the rationale behind the government’s cautious and highly disciplined approach to releasing information related to the President’s foreign travel and diplomatic engagements.
In a detailed statement, the spokesperson said the careful management of sensitive information is a matter of patriotism and responsible statecraft, stressing that discretion is essential to safeguarding Somaliland’s national interests in an increasingly complex global environment.
“The disciplined protection of our country’s secrets—especially the careful handling of information related to the President’s diplomatic engagements and his foreign travel—is an act of patriotism and principled leadership,” Dayr said.
He noted that limiting public disclosure helps protect national security, shields critical negotiations from hostile interference, and preserves the dignity and authority of the Republic of Somaliland on the international geopolitical stage.
According to the spokesperson, Somaliland operates in a world marked by information warfare and intense scrutiny, where restraint, rather than publicity, is often the wiser course. “By placing the national interest above spectacle, the Republic of Somaliland ensures that diplomacy delivers results, not distractions,” he added.
Dayr emphasized that such deliberate discretion strengthens sovereignty, protects the country’s strategic advantage, and reflects a leadership committed to confidence, responsibility, and the public good.
He rejected claims that the President’s leadership style lacks visibility, asserting that effective governance is measured by outcomes rather than public display. “The contemporary leadership and statecraft displayed by the President of the Republic of Somaliland is not noise, spectacle, show-off, or self-promotion,” he said.
“It is the quiet strength of delivering real and meaningful outcomes for his people, decisively and with purpose, before our enemies ever have the chance to react—before they even realize what Somaliland has achieved,” the spokesperson concluded.
