Somaliland Police Chief Concludes UK Trip to advance Security and Training Ties.
Hargeisa, Somaliland (Horn post) — The Commander of the Somaliland Police Force, Brig. Gen. Abdirahman Abdullahi Hassan, has returned to the country following an official working visit to the United Kingdom aimed at strengthening security cooperation and institutional capacity.
The police chief and his delegation were received upon arrival at Hargeisa’s Egal International Airport by deputy commanders and senior officers of the Somaliland Police Force.
During his visit to the UK, Brig. Gen. Hassan held a series of high-level meetings with British police leaders and security officials, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation, improving operational coordination, and expanding training opportunities.
Discussions also explored ways to deepen long-term collaboration between Somaliland and the United Kingdom, particularly in areas of policing, security management, and professional development.
The delegation visited several UK police institutions, where they observed modern policing systems, operational procedures, and best practices in maintaining public safety. Officials said the visit provided valuable exposure to advanced methods and expertise that could support ongoing reforms within Somaliland’s police force.
In addition, the police chief met with members of the Somaliland diaspora in the UK, where they exchanged views on the country’s overall security situation and progress in development.
The visit underscores Somaliland’s continued efforts to build international partnerships aimed at strengthening security institutions and improving public safety through knowledge exchange and capacity building.
