Hargeisa, Somaliland (Hornpost) — [18 October 2025] The Ministry of Trade and Tourism of the Republic of Somaliland has today officially launched the Tourism Infrastructure Development Project, a major initiative funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented in collaboration with Coater International.

The launch ceremony, held at Serene Savorer Premium Hotel in Hargeisa, brought together tourism stakeholders, industry experts, representatives of travel and tour companies, and officials from various government institutions.

The project aims to strengthen the tourism sector in Somaliland through the following key components:

Developing the Official Somaliland Tourism Website, Formulating the National Tourism Policy, and Drafting the Tourism Development Act.

Speaking at the launch, the Minister of Trade and Tourism, Hon. Abdirahman Hassan Nur (Attorney), emphasized that the initiative marks a significant step forward in promoting tourism and stimulating economic growth in Somaliland.

“This project is a major achievement that will enhance our tourism infrastructure, attract investment, create jobs, and showcase the unique cultural and natural attractions of Somaliland to the world,” said Minister Abdirahman.

The EU-funded project is described as a strategic investment that will lay the groundwork for a sustainable and inclusive tourism industry. It also seeks to promote the protection and preservation of Somaliland’s historical and natural heritage sites, ensuring that tourism growth goes hand in hand with conservation.
