Somaliland, Somali Regional State Leaders Strengthen Cross-Border Health Cooperation.
Hargeisa, October 5, 2025 (hornpost.com/) – The Minister of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Dr. Hussein Bashir Hirsi, today held an important meeting in his office with the President of Ethiopia’s Somali Regional State, Mr. Mustafe Muhumed Omar.
The meeting focused on enhancing health cooperation between Somaliland and the Somali Regional State, particularly in the areas of public health, prevention and control of cross-border diseases, and establishing a sustainable and effective framework for collaboration.
Dr. Hussein Bashir emphasized the importance of the health partnership between Somaliland and Ethiopia, noting that diseases know no borders, and that closer coordination will help both sides respond effectively to emergencies and improve overall healthcare delivery.
For his part, President Mustafe Muhumed Omar praised the efforts of Somaliland’s Ministry of Health Development, reaffirming his government’s commitment to jointly strengthening healthcare services and preventing major infectious diseases that affect communities on both sides of the border.
The two leaders agreed to continue consultations aimed at promoting regional health security and cooperation, as part of broader ties between Somaliland and Ethiopia.
