Nairobi (Hornpost) The Minister of Finance and Economic Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Hon. Abdillahi Hassan Adan, today held an important high-level meeting with senior officials of the World Bank at the Bank’s headquarters in Nairobi.
The meeting, conducted in an atmosphere of constructive engagement and mutual understanding, focused on the World Bank–supported projects in Somaliland, their current implementation status, existing challenges, and opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between the two sides.
During the discussions, particular emphasis was placed on:
Accelerating the implementation of ongoing projects, strengthening public financial management systems, and enhancing the effectiveness and developmental impact of World Bank financing in Somaliland.
Both sides reviewed progress made to date and explored practical measures to ensure timely delivery and improved outcomes of development initiatives supported by the World Bank.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two parties agreed to fast-track previously agreed action points from earlier engagements held in Hargeisa, while intensifying coordination to advance ongoing and future projects.
Minister Abdillahi Hassan Adan expressed appreciation to the World Bank, particularly Mr. Hideki Matsunaga, and the Bank’s staff for their continued and visible support to Somaliland. He reaffirmed the Government of Somaliland’s strong commitment to deepening cooperation with international development partners to enhance public service delivery and promote sustainable economic growth across the country.
