Brussels, (Hornpost) — Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdussalam Haji Ahmed, on Friday participated in the Fourth European Union Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum held in Brussels.
The gathering brought together senior officials and foreign ministers from Europe and more than 60 countries across the Indo-Pacific region to discuss global security, multilateral cooperation, and regional stability.
Minister Abdussalam, who was among the invited leaders, joined discussions focused on rising geopolitical tensions, emerging security threats, and the impact of climate change on the international system.
In his address to the forum, the Minister reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to multilateral cooperation, peaceful conflict resolution, and strengthening international institutions. He highlighted the importance of dialogue, regional stability, and inclusive development in tackling global challenges.
He also underscored the need for enhanced cooperation at a time of heightened political uncertainty, noting that intensifying competition among major powers, growing pressure on global supply chains, and increased geopolitical rivalry in maritime spaces require coordinated international action.

The Brussels meeting forms part of the EU’s ongoing engagement with Indo-Pacific partners aimed at advancing shared security, economic, and environmental priorities.
