Moscow (Hornpost) The Russian government has said it has not received any official peace proposal from the United States, despite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressing openness to working with a potential Trump administration to end the ongoing war.
The U.S. plan, which was recently leaked, reportedly suggests that Ukraine should agree to relinquish parts of the Donetsk region, reduce the size of its armed forces, and refrain from joining NATO — recommendations widely viewed as favoring Russia’s interests.
President Zelensky did not directly reject the proposals, stating instead that he appreciates former President Donald Trump’s efforts to restore security in Europe. His office added that the plan could potentially revive diplomatic channels, and that Zelensky expects to speak with Trump soon.
Meanwhile, Russia has continued its military offensive, with reports of limited gains in eastern Ukraine. Ukraine, for its part, is grappling with a corruption scandal involving senior officials.
The U.S. has dismissed claims that Ukraine was excluded from discussions, stressing that talks with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov contributed to key adjustments in the proposal.
The Kremlin stated that it has not yet received any formal communication from Washington but maintained that the “door remains open for peace talks” — though Moscow’s conditions continue to be viewed by Kyiv as tantamount to surrender.
