Puntland Forces Report New Strikes Against ISIS Militants in Cal-Miskaad Mountains, Five Militants Killed, Senior ISIS Technician Arrested.

Garowe (Hornpost) — Puntland’s Counter-Terrorism Operation Command has released new details on ongoing military operations against ISIS-affiliated militants in the Cal-Miskaad mountain ranges.

According to an official statement by Puntland Counter-Terrorism Operation Command, a U.S.–supported airstrike targeted militant positions in Baallade Valley, near the Barakallah area, resulting in the deaths of at least five ISIS fighters. Puntland authorities described the operation as part of a broader effort to dismantle remaining cells operating in remote mountainous terrain.

The statement noted that “the airstrike, conducted with support from the United States, eliminated at least five members of ISIS in the Barakallah area.”

Key ISIS Technical Specialist Captured:

Puntland officials also confirmed the capture of an individual identified as the head of GPS coordination for ISIS operations in the region. The suspect, who identified himself as Abdirixiin Ibnu Borosa, is said to be a Moroccan national.

Puntland’s Minister of Commerce, Ahmed Shirre, visited the location where the suspect was detained and stated that the individual is currently under investigation by security forces.

Ground Operations to Secure Baallade Valley:

In a parallel security sweep, Puntland Defense Forces carried out operations between Ceel Gabo Gabo and Ceel Gaaca in the Baallade Valley. Commanders instructed pastoral communities living in the area to temporarily relocate to ensure their safety as clearing operations continue.

Military officials say the aim of the operation is to remove remaining ISIS elements believed to be hiding in caves and rugged terrain across the valley.

Security commanders reiterated that Puntland forces remain committed to continuous operations to ensure long-term stability in the region.
