Addis Ababa (Hornpost) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, arrived today in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia, where he held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, H.E. Abiy Ahmed Ali.
According to a statement from the Somali Presidency, the two leaders discussed strengthening the bilateral relations between their countries, emphasizing the importance of developmental cooperation based on good neighborliness, mutual respect, and the sovereignty and unity of each nation.
President Hassan Sheikh highlighted the importance of regional stability and the need to unify efforts to eradicate terrorism, reaffirming Somalia’s commitment to advancing regional cooperation aimed at achieving lasting peace, good neighborliness, and stability.
For his part, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed wrote on his social media account:
“Today, I met with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia, for discussions on bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.”
The meeting comes at a time when the two neighboring countries have recently resumed diplomatic engagements aimed at strengthening relations, following a period of strained ties between Mogadishu and Addis Ababa.
