Hargeisa, (Hornpost) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Cirro), is scheduled to travel tomorrow to Erigavo, the regional capital of Sanag, where he will officially open the Sanag Regional Peace Conference.
The long-anticipated peace conference, which brings together traditional elders, community leaders, and government representatives, aims to promote reconciliation and peaceful coexistence among the communities living in the region.
In preparation for the President’s arrival, advance delegations have already reached Erigavo, including members of the National Peace Committee, who have been working for weeks to facilitate dialogue and reconciliation efforts in Sanag.
The Minister of Interior and Security, Hon. Abdalle Mohamed Arab, along with several cabinet ministers from the region, are currently in Erigavo overseeing final arrangements for the event.
A delegation led by the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Saed Mire Gire, which includes several Members of Parliament elected from the Sanag region, has also arrived in the city.
The Commander of the Somaliland Military Forces, Lieutenant General Nimcan Gahnug, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Somaliland Police Force, Lieutenant General Abdirahman Abdillahi Hassan Abdi Dhere, also arrived in Erigavo, the capital of Sanag Region.
It is also expected that the Supreme Sultan of the Warsangeli Clan, Sultan Saed Sultan Abdilasalan, whose community resides mainly in the eastern parts of Sanag, will arrive in Erigavo tomorrow to attend the opening ceremony.
The Grand Ugaas of the Salal and Awdal regions is likewise expected to participate in the official opening, underscoring the national importance of the conference.
The peace conference, initiated by President Cirro, is widely viewed as a significant step toward restoring stability and reconciliation in Sanag, following the local conflicts that occurred in the region last year.
