MOGADISHU – (Horn post) President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia participated on December 20, 2025, in celebrations marking the 82nd anniversary of the founding of the Somali Police Force.
During the ceremony, the President extended his congratulations to senior commanders, officers, deputy officers, inspectors, recruits, and all personnel of the Somali Police Force for their dedication and service. He praised the Police leadership for notable achievements in maintaining national security, rehabilitating police facilities, and enhancing the training and development of personnel.
President Hassan Sheikh emphasized the importance of preparedness, particularly for ensuring security during the upcoming one-person, one-vote elections in Banadir Region. “I commend the Somali Police leadership for their remarkable work in a short period. Since its establishment in 1943, the Somali Police Force has stood for the protection of life, honor, and property of the Somali people. I extend my gratitude to all men and women of the Somali Police who risk their lives to safeguard our nation,” he said.
He further advised officers and rank-and-file personnel to carry out their duties in accordance with national law, stressing accountability at every level. Each officer is responsible for fulfilling their assigned duties with integrity and professionalism.
The anniversary ceremony was attended by federal ministers, members of parliament, commanders of the armed forces, former police chiefs, the Governor of Banadir, ambassadors, and other distinguished guests. The event highlighted both the historical contributions of the Somali Police Force and the ongoing efforts to strengthen law enforcement across the country.
