Israel Clarifies Cooperation with Somaliland, Dismisses Claims on Gaza Relocation.

JERUSALEM – (Horn post) Israel has clarified that its cooperation agreements with Somaliland do not include any plans to relocate Gaza residents to Somaliland, seeking to address speculation surrounding the growing ties between the two sides.

Speaking in a special interview aired Wednesday night on Israel’s Channel 14, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar stated that there is no provision in the agreements with Somaliland related to transferring or resettling people from Gaza.

“There is nothing in the agreements between Israel and Somaliland that concerns relocating the people of Gaza to Somaliland,” Sa’ar said.

He explained that Israel–Somaliland cooperation is focused on political engagement, security coordination, and broader strategic partnership, reflecting shared interests rather than population-related matters.

The clarification comes amid increased international attention on Israel’s diplomatic outreach in the Horn of Africa. Analysts say the statement is intended to promote transparency and reaffirm that the partnership between Israel and Somaliland is based on mutual political and security cooperation.

Observers note that the remarks may help reduce misinformation and provide clarity on the scope of the Israel–Somaliland relationship as diplomatic engagement between the two continues to expand.
