ABU DHABI (Horn post) The Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday for a working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Prime Minister Abiy landed at the Presidential Airport in Abu Dhabi, where he was received by Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, UAE Minister of Justice, and Mohamed Abdullah Al Jneibi, Chairman of the Presidential Protocol and Strategic Narrative Authority.
Focus on Bilateral Cooperation
The visit comes as Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates continue to expand cooperation in several strategic sectors, including investment, trade, infrastructure development, and regional stability.
Officials say the working visit is expected to include discussions with senior UAE leaders on ways to deepen economic ties and explore new opportunities for partnership, particularly in development projects and investment initiatives.
Strong Diplomatic and Economic Ties
The UAE has been one of Ethiopia’s key partners in the Gulf region, providing investment and economic support in recent years. The two countries have also worked together on regional issues affecting the Horn of Africa.
Analysts say high-level visits between leaders from Addis Ababa and Abu Dhabi reflect the growing strategic relationship between the two nations, particularly as Ethiopia seeks to attract foreign investment to support its economic development.
Further meetings and engagements involving the Ethiopian prime minister are expected to take place during the visit.
