Saylac, (Hornpost) – Somaliland Government Police, Military officials Responded Disagreements between communities in the western regions of Somaliland specially Salal region capital Saylac. Governor of Salel together with the Somaliland Police, military Commanders, have spoken out firmly following clan-related clashes that erupted in Saylac, involving two local communities.

The Governor of Salal region and the Deputy Police Commissioner of Somaliland General Abdi Mose, who addressed the media today, confirmed that security forces responded swiftly to the incident and that the situation is now under control.

The Governor of Salal region of Somaliland Abdi Saed Fahiye said in press conference

“Our security forces moved quickly to stop the clashes and restore order. Saylac is now calm, and we will not allow anyone to disrupt the peace of this region,” said the Governor of Salal.

The Deputy Police Commissioner of the Republic of Somaliland General Abdi Mose echoed the Governor’s remarks, stressing that the government is committed to protecting citizens from violence.

“Those who instigate clan violence will face the full force of the law. We want the people of Saylac to know that their security is our top priority, and we urge them to uphold peace and unity,” he stated.

Somaliland west coast Military commander General Yosef Iman urged to respect the rule of low and the government will take its responsibility.

The officials urged residents to maintain coexistence and avoid being drawn into clan-based rivalries, which they warned could destabilize the region.

Analysis and Implications

The recent unrest in Saylac is believed to have stemmed from long-standing local disputes, often linked to land and livestock, which occasionally trigger clan-related tensions. While the security forces acted quickly to contain the situation, the clashes highlight the fragility of inter-clan relations in the area.

Saylac’s location on the coast near the Djibouti border gives it significant strategic and economic importance. Analysts note that recurring clan tensions, if not addressed, could undermine both local stability and Somaliland’s wider security interests in the region.

Nonetheless, the swift deployment of security forces and the firm message delivered by regional and police authorities demonstrate the government’s commitment to safeguarding peace and stability in Salal.
