Somaliland Water Experts Complete First Phase of Advanced Training in Israel.

TEL AVIV, Israel (Horn post) Water experts from the Ministry of Water Resources Development of the Republic of Somaliland have successfully completed the first phase of an advanced training program in Israel focused on modern water management technologies.

The 25-day training program equipped Somaliland specialists with knowledge and practical skills in the latest technologies related to water management, exploration, and extraction.

During the closing ceremony, the Deputy Director of MASHAV, Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation, presented certificates to the participants who completed the course and praised their dedication and commitment throughout the program.

Visits to Key Water Facilities:

As part of the training, the Somaliland delegation conducted field visits to several of Israel’s leading water facilities. Israel is widely recognized as a global leader in water technology and innovation.

The experts visited and studied:

Deep Water Wells: Techniques used to drill and manage deep groundwater wells.

Desalination Plants: Modern facilities that convert seawater into safe drinking water.

Wastewater Treatment Systems: Advanced technologies used to recycle wastewater for agricultural irrigation—an area in which Israel is considered a world leader.

Training Extension for Advanced Learning:

Given the importance of the program for Somaliland’s long-term water strategy, the training has been extended to allow the experts to further deepen their technical knowledge.

Top Israeli specialists are providing additional instruction on practical solutions that can help address water scarcity challenges in Somaliland. The goal is to ensure that, upon their return, the experts can apply these technologies and contribute to meaningful improvements in the country’s water resource management.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the Government of Somaliland to strengthen international cooperation and advance national water security through the transfer of global expertise.
