Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the arrival of an Iranian delegation led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who is set to meet senior Pakistani leaders to discuss regional security and ongoing peace initiatives.
Iranian Delegation Meets Pakistani Leadership
According to the statement, the Iranian delegation will hold talks with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, as well as Army Chief Asim Munir, focusing on regional developments and efforts to promote stability.
The statement did not confirm whether direct meetings between Iranian officials and U.S. representatives will take place in Islamabad.
US Delegation En Route
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump is dispatching a delegation to Pakistan, signaling potential progress in stalled negotiations.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and senior adviser Jared Kushner will travel to Islamabad on Saturday for talks with Iranian officials.
Focus on Regional Stability
The renewed diplomatic activity comes as Washington and Tehran seek to ease tensions and explore pathways toward de-escalation, with Pakistan emerging as a potential venue for indirect or direct negotiations.
