Hargeisa (hornpost.com/) The President of the Republic of Somaliland Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Cirro has congratulated the members of the American Parliament who are working on the rules to recognize Somaliland as an independent country and the ongoing efforts.
President Cirro said “I also mention our relationship with the United States in countries that are of special interest to us. We applaud the American lawmakers and the Congressional Foreign Affairs Committee for calling for the United States to open a diplomatic office in Somaliland; we will go to any lengths to strengthen that relationship with the United States.”
President Abdirahman Cirro today gave a speech at a ceremony where he received the President and members of the Somaliland Senate which he met for the first time during his tenure as president.
The President of Somaliland also spoke about the relationship between Somaliland and Ethiopia which he described as important for both peoples, as He Said “I mention the Government of Ethiopia as a long-standing friend, and our commitment to economic development, strengthening security, social stability and our relationship with Ethiopia our duty to improve the relationship, the benefit of our two countries and to bring their cooperation to the highest level”
Somaliland President Abdirahman Cirro praised the Somaliland Senate for their role in building the Somaliland Government “The important work that the Senate has earned a lot of trust from the nation, and the special role given by our constitution, highlights the great importance of cooperation between different departments in Somaliland to strengthen the system of government, and to validate the aspirations of the citizens.”
The President of Somaliland speaking in the Senate said “The Somaliland Senate, of which I am an honorary member, his leadership, his wisdom and his experience, played a vital role in building the foundation of our Somaliland government, strengthening our values and culture, and securing our security.”
