Hargeisa (Hornpost) – Former President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, has called on senior leaders of the ruling Kulmiye Party to resolve their internal differences through lawful dialogue and to immediately suspend all parallel meetings.
The appeal follows a recent public dispute between Kulmiye Party Chairman Mohamed Kaahin Ahmed and Chairman of the Central Committee, Mahmoud Jama Warfa, a disagreement that has unfolded prominently across social media platforms.
“I urge both chairmen to suspend the separate meetings they are convening until a mutually agreed resolution is reached,” the former president said.
Muse Bihi expressed confidence in Kulmiye’s long-standing tradition of resolving internal disputes through consultation, dialogue, and consensus, stressing that the current disagreement should be addressed collectively and in accordance with the party’s rules and legal framework.
He emphasized that unity and institutional discipline remain essential for the stability and credibility of the ruling party.
Former Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi, who served as the longest-tenured chairman of the Kulmiye Party, is experiencing the party’s first major internal political disagreement during his time as a senior elder of the organization.
This marks a rare divergence in political views between Muse Bihi and his long-time political ally, Mohamed Kaahin Ahmed—the current Chairman of Kulmiye and former Minister of Interior during Muse Bihi’s presidency.
The disagreement is notable given the two leaders’ decades-long political partnership and their central roles in shaping Kulmiye’s leadership and governance during the party’s years in power.
