PHILIPSBURG, Pennsylvania (Horn post) – A 46-year-old Eritrean refugee, Fu’ad Saed Abdulqadir, has died while in the custody of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), authorities confirmed.
Abdulqadir died on December 14, 2025, at a detention facility operated by ICE in the Moshannon Valley area, near the town of Philipsburg in Pennsylvania. He had been held in ICE custody for approximately 215 days while awaiting a hearing before the Executive Office for Immigration Review.
According to preliminary reports, Abdulqadir complained of chest pain while inside the Moshannon detention facility. Medical staff reportedly rushed him to the facility’s medical unit; however, efforts to save his life were unsuccessful. The official cause of death has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.
The Pennsylvania State Police, in coordination with the Clearfield County Coroner’s Office, have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
Fu’ad Saed Abdulqadir was born on March 15, 1979, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and was a national of Eritrea. His death adds to ongoing concerns raised by human rights groups regarding medical care and conditions inside U.S. immigration detention facilities.
ICE has not yet released further details pending the outcome of the investigation.
