Cairo (Hornpost) Egypt has showcased a new unmanned, pilotless suicide drone known as the “Jabbar 150,” the first aircraft of its kind to be fully manufactured within the country, according to a private defense company participating in the annual EDEX Defense Exhibition organized by Egypt’s Ministry of Defense.
Developers say the Jabbar 150 boasts significant strike capabilities, with a flight range of up to 1,500 kilometers, a top speed of 200 km/h, and the ability to remain airborne for nearly ten consecutive hours. The drone can also carry 40 to 50 kilograms of combat payload.
The aircraft is equipped with GPS and an Inertial Navigation System (INS), enabling it to locate targets even if GPS signals are disrupted. It also uses thermal sensors to guide itself during electronic interference.
The “Jabbar 150” is expected to be the first in a new series of Egyptian loitering munitions, which will also include the Jabbar 200 and Jabbar 250 models.
Following the 1948 Arab Israeli war, Egypt launched one of the largest defense industrialization projects in its history, with documented approval from Britain and the United States, according to British archives.
Iranian media highlighted notable similarities between the Jabbar 150 and Iran’s Shahed-136 drone.
Defense analyst Liz Craig noted that the design appears to be inspired by the Shahed-136, one of the most effective single-engine attack drones in recent years. She added that the strength of the Iranian drone lies in its compact size, low radar signature, and its ability to execute large-scale saturation attacks, making it “a highly effective tool for overwhelming enemy air defenses.”
