Hargeisa (Hornpost.com) The President of the Republic of Somaliland Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Irro) today held an important meeting with senior leaders of the IOM, Mr. Manuel Marques Pereira and a delegation led by him included Ms Murima (Vice), Ayan Hassan Rabi (Chief of IOM Somaliland) and Mohammed Omar Idaan (Security Officer).
The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro, welcomed the delegation and thanked them for the long time they have been working in Somaliland.
The President said that the Government of Somaliland is ready to work closely and effectively and cooperatively with all international organizations, working with them on issues that are a priority for the Somaliland nation.
Head of the IOM Mr. Marques Pereira praised the President for his success in the Presidential Election Competition in the country and the democratic process in Somaliland.
The Head of the IOM said that they are ready to work with the new Government, especially the Ministries with which they have direct cooperation, such as: Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs, Resettlement, Justice and Health, Immigration Command, etc.
The meeting was focused on strengthening cooperation to address the challenges of immigration and how to cooperate on humanitarian issues that need to be addressed.
The important points included:
* Managing the flow of migration and protecting vulnerable people.
* Coordinating support for displaced persons and communities affected by natural disasters and conflicts.
* Fighting human trafficking and ensuring the protection of at-risk individuals.
* Exploiting and developing the knowledge and experience of the Diaspora community
Both sides have confirmed a commitment to long-term cooperation aimed at promoting stability, humanitarian care, and sustainable development in Somaliland.
