London (Hornpost.com) – MP Gavin Williamson, a member of the British Parliament, accused the Somali government of funding Al-Shabaab and the Houthis in Yemen, while also calling on the United States to recognize Somaliland.
The MP who strongly supported the decision of the United States to suspend the finances of the large organization USAID, which was in charge of humanitarian affairs in Washington, said that the government of Somalia used the agency to send funds to the Al-Shabaab group.
“USAID used by the Somali government to send money and support to Al-Shabaab. It’s time to stop US taxpayer money being backed by a pro-terrorist government, Gavin said on his X page.
Also, the MP accused the Somali government of providing military and financial support to the Houthi group in Yemen. “Somalia, using Al-Shabaab, sends money and military aid to the Houthi group. Trump was right about the bombings he carried out in Somalia,” said.

Finally, the MP called on US President Donald Trump to recognize Somaliland, which he described as one of the most democratic places in the region. “Recognize Somaliland, the most democratic country in the region, and stop US funding in Mogadishu, which supports terrorism,” said.
Gavin Williamson is one of the MPs who campaign heavily for the recognition of Somaliland, having often presented debates related to it to the UK Parliament.
