The delegation was led by the Special Envoy of Finland in charge of Peace Affairs and Dispute Resolution in the Horn of Africa (Mr. Sultan Saeed Ahmed).
The delegation also included the Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland for East Africa and South African countries (Mr. Jukka Pajerinen).
Speaking of welcome and thanks for Finland’s assistance to Somaliland after development, the President of the Republic of Somaliland told the Finnish delegation that Somaliland is a country with experience in conflict resolution and peace building for more than 34 years, and now Somaliland is ready to work with everyone on issues of peace and stability in the Horn of Africa region as a whole especially Eerigabo District and the east of Sool Region.

The President told the delegation that on the day he was sworn in (12.12.2024) he called for an unconditional peace process, and the Government of Somaliland is still committed to a lasting solution and consensus to end the current violence.
The President told the Finnish delegation that Somaliland is a country known for peace, stability, democracy, the rule of law and the protection of human rights. Also, that the government of Somaliland is not at war with its people, but we (Somaliland) were taken in an emotional flight in which his established government started a war 2 days after he took office (14.12.2024 / Erigavo).
The President of Somaliland told the Finnish delegation that Somaliland is ready to work with the international community in many areas, especially cooperation and cooperation in the security and stability of the Horn of Africa region.
The President asked the Finnish delegation to support Finland in Somaliland in improving and reforming the services necessary for the needs of the Somaliland community, such as health services, higher education and the modernization of the Tax System, as Finland is the first country in the world to provide these services.
The delegation led by the Special Envoy of Finland in charge of Peace Affairs and Dispute Resolution in the Horn of Africa (Mr. Sultan Saeed Ahmed) praised the 2024 elections in Somaliland, the mature democracy in Somaliland and the civilized way in transfers the power.
The Peace Envoy of Finland also praised the President for the establishment of the Peace Committee which was recently appointed by the President, saying that the matter has been welcomed in his country and they are ready to help the Peace Committee.
The envoy said that his country is ready to work with Somaliland in terms of peace and mediating the violence in the East of Sool and Sanag regions.
Also, the Peace Envoy of Finland said that his country is ready to work with Somaliland on issues of development, good governance, improvement of health services, education, justice services and prisons, etc.
Finally, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Presidency also thanked the Special Envoy for Peace and Conflict Resolution in Finland for their visit to Somaliland, and underlined that Somaliland is a reliable country in every aspect. At the same time, the time has come for the international community to be aware of the good and progress that has been made in Somaliland.
The Minister of the Presidency asked the delegation of Finland to support Somaliland in the direction of Somaliland youth in youth employment, especially in terms of creativity and sports, which are specifically aimed at peace, stability, unity and cooperation of the Somaliland nation.
