Somalia’s Minister of Information held a meeting with the United Nations Representative.

Discussed the role of the National Media in the country's important agendas

Mogadishu (Hornpost.com) – The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Daoud Aweys Jama received in his office the Special Representative of the KMG of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ambassador James Swan.

The Minister and Ambassador Swan discussed the role of the National Media in the country’s important agendas, how to eradicate the AS from the country, reconciliation issues, elections and other issues facing Somalia.

The minister and the representative also spoke about the progress made by the Federal Government of Somalia in terms of security and how the Armed Forces are ready to take over the security of the country after the end of Operation AUSSOM.

The Minister of Information Daoud Aweys Jama also shared with the United Nations Representative the progress made in the revision of the Constitution and the elections based on people and votes that are planned to be held in the country this year and next year in 2026.

The representative of the United Nations, James Swan, praised the work done by DFS, noting that the United Nations will continue to support Somalia, and will strengthen cooperation and cooperation between the two sides.

The Minister and the United Nations Representative also visited the Central Archives of Tapes of the National Media.

Finally, the Minister of Information thanked the United Nations for the role it played in matters related to the support of Somalia in the past 30 years, underlining that this support played a major role in the reconstruction of the government.
